Neurons

Words & Music by James Kennedy

'Neurons' is an Alternative Rock song by KYSHERA which was released in 2014 as a B-Side although it was recorded several years earlier.

The exact date of the origin of 'Neurons' is not known as yet but it is stated as being from the period when the band recorded their album 'Paradigm' which dates it at around 2009 / 2010. The song is heavily electronic & features a continuous 6/8 drum rhythm throughout which makes heavy syncopated use of a Cowbell. The song is based around 3 chords throughout & it is the ever changing instrumental arrangement which keeps the listeners attention. The song also features the highest recorded note that Kennedy has yet to sing (an A5). Lyrically, Kennedy sings (almost unintelligible) lyrics about something which is never revealed but described cryptically throughout - which is possibly the 1st demonstration of Kennedys use of lyrics to create surreal atmospheres as later displayed on songs such as 'The Labyrinth' and 'The Last Dance' from 'The National Health Service' album). The song was fully recorded but never received a final mix or master and was subsequently posted on Youtube & Soundcloud as a free track in 2014.

LYRICS

It breeds in cattle

Like a fire in a Hospital

It dreams in illness

And multiplies like a Colony

A symbol of the question

We can't afford to ask ourselves

A digital reflection

Of our unconscious reality

It feeds on virus

And prays like a deity

And it's born into cages

With the inside out

And dissipates like religion

Through the veins of everything
