Live

Words & Music by James Kennedy

'Live' is an Acoustic Pop song & is the 4th song on the 2013 James Kennedy album 'The National Health Service'. The words, music & production are by James Kennedy.

'Live' is a simple Acoustic ballad with sparse instrumentation including Acoustic Guitar, Piano, strings, Bass & vocals. The heartfelt song is gentle in nature & is a personal & honest expression by Kennedy of his awareness that he frequently takes for granted those closest to him whilst being so focused on his work. Whilst constantly looking 'forward', he is aware that he often neglects the present & doesn't take stock of the past. He realises that ultimately what he is 'striving' towards is already there 'right behind' him, if only he'd slow down enough to appreciate it.

LYRICS

Every day that passes by on this ride

Believe there’s a yearning always there, deep inside

When I wake up, when I wake up and I’m somewhere

When I wake up, when I wake up and you’re not there

I run and I climb

With the weight of the world bearing down on me

Always striving to get to who is always

Right behind me

I live like today is always tomorrows yesterday

But how many years will pass you by, living this way

When I wake up, when I wake up and I’m somewhere

When I wake up, when I wake up and you’re not there

I run and I climb

With the weight of the world bearing down on me

Always striving to get to who is always

Right behind me

When I fall you catch me

But like a springboard

I’m back to chasing your shadow

Will I wake up, will I wake up and see the now

Will I wake up, will I wake up and turn around

I run and I climb

With the weight of the world bearing down on me

Always striving to get to who is always

Right behind me

‘Cos everyday that passes by…
